Zombieboy

Thinking about his past was difficult for Kyle. He could remember the early part of summer, his mom was home with him, she always said Kyle was her full time job. His dad went to work as usual, gone before Kyle got up, home in the early afternoon on most days. What did he do in the summer? He knew it was July now, almost August, he remembered thinking about how he only had another month before he went back to school, he vaguely remembered Independence Day, fireworks in Granby, with camping for 3 days after that. After the 4th, what? His mom, his mom and Miss Wallace, they did...something. They knew each other outside of school, Kyle remembered the first day he walked into class and seeing Miss Wallace there and saying to her, "Do you know where our teacher is?", then being embarrassed when she said she was his teacher this year, this was where she worked and it was her first year, 'back in the saddle'. Kyle was not sure what that met, but his mom seemed to know when he told her that night. The year had gone fast, as most 3rd grade years tend to when you look back on them. Almost before he knew it he was out of class and dumped into early summer again, late bedtimes, sleeping in, playing outside all day long. Kyle loved summer, he didn't hate school, but it was an 'inconvenience' that got in the way of playing, kind of like church or eating or taking baths.

Chuck! Startled Kyle sat up he remembered going camping with Chuck and Katie. Chuck had a week off and was going up with Katie, her baby brother and her mom to see dinosaur park, they invited Kyle to come along and give Kyle's mom a vacation. He remembered this! The trip up was long, long, long and after awhile even playing Shu-shu-Rocket II with Katie on their gameboys got boring. They switched games a half dozen times and then Chuckie (Chuck Junior) started getting fussy and crying, they had to pull over and Kyle watched with mixed horror and wonder as Katie's mom put her boobie in Chuckie's mouth! She put a blanket over Chuckies head then and everyone else was making like it was no big deal, so Kyle did too. Not before Katie saw his face though and teased him about not knowing about the 'birds and the bees' and how babies eat. Kyle said he never ate that way, Katie said he did too and of course a fight broke out behind the johns at the rest stop. Chuck found em and wanted to know what was going on, but Katie didn't say and Kyle didn't say, so he just grabbed em both and dumped them in front of Missy, Katie's mom. She told them it was too soon in the trip for them to be fighting and then made Katie run to one end of the rest stop, to a tree she pointed out and made Kyle run to the other end, to a different tree, whoever made it back first got to choose which snack to eat and as they both knew there was only one ice cream sandwich left... Kyle won, and took the last ice cream, but then traded half of it for half the peanut butter crackers that Katie took, she was looking mad and like she was going to cry 'cause Kyle had won. After that Chuckie got full, burbled all over and then had to have his 'stinkies' changed.

That was just the start of the trip and most of it was coming back to him now, he remembered getting back to town a little less than a week later, Chuck and Missy had bought him a couple models of dinosaurs to build and some that you threw into water and they would get real large. Funny but the dinosaurs ended up not being the best part of the trip.
