Ashes to Ashes

“It is with great solemnity that I pronounce upon him, Paupertas Silvis.” There was an audible gasp from the crowd, Father Gregor de Jesuit smiled as the waves of it travelled out from him. Each row spreading the word to those farther back. A few cries of ‘No!’ were softly spoken against his sentence. The outdoor sanctuary didn’t have the best acoustics, and it took a few seconds for his words to be spread. He held up one hand, which trembled slightly, “Listen to me!” His voice raised to near shouting volume, “He shall not go alone. Much prayer and contemplation went into this and I pass on the judgement of the Lord, as is my place and dutiful responsibility.”
